It’s little surprise to friends and family that I love Star Wars. The stories, the light-sabers and the special effects enthrall me in a way few other movie series do.
But this series does more than entertain. The wisdom contained within each movie (although, maybe not 1–3. Yikes…) rings as true as it did when I was a child looking for guidance somewhere other than the church.
Here are my favorite quotes, I hope they bring you some joy too.
1. “Do. Or do not. There is no try.” — Yoda
Classic Yoda, and more motivational to me than any other personal development teacher. If you’re going to do something, go all the way. I wrote this quote in the front of my study book to get me in the right frame of mind whenever I sit down for lectures.
2. “The belonging you seek is not behind you…it is ahead.” -Maz Kanata
As an adopted child, the latest Star Wars story really hits home for me. I hate to generalize and say that people who aren’t adopted can’t relate to this though, because they can. We all have things in our past we wish could bring us meaning or understanding, but we’re not going in that direction.
